Planted focuses on students who cant seem to get ahead or are chronically suspended from middle and high schools. In the program, the youth meet at school with their mentor weekly, whether it be at lunch or a designated time that works with their schools and youth schedule. The goal of the program is to rekindle the youth’s commitment to learning and desire to be successful in the classroom and at home. 64% of students with an in-school mentor develop more positive attitudes towards school. The mentor partners with the student to establish school goals for the semester work on self discipline, and assign tailored life skill packets designed to improve the young person’s sense of hopefulness and open their eyes to a better future.
